I am a laser physicist who focuses on the interaction of light and novel materials. Before coming to teach here at UWEC, I worked both in industry and academia. Projects I worked on include building custom lasers, smoke detector design, and measuring the thermal properties of various nanomaterials.
I was raised in the Washington D.C. metro area and never imagined I'd end up in the upper Midwest. While I'm still unsure about the winters, I'm definitely on board with all the brats and cheese varieties. In my spare time, I enjoy knitting, baking, and watching trashy reality tv shows.
