You won’t have to look very far to find a Blugold educator! We produce outstanding teachers who achieve success with their students. UW–Eau Claire alumni teach in every public school district in the local Chippewa Valley and can also be found all across the United States. Following dreams and changing lives
For Carissa Zibolsky, being a Blugold means she can follow her dreams and pursue multiple passions, including majoring in both special education and Spanish. The recent graduate now will use both degrees when she moves to Panama as a Fulbright scholarship recipient, where she will teach English and lead an after-school sports program.
It's an opportunity she feels well prepared for, thanks to time spent studying abroad in Chile, an immersion program in Scotland and student-teaching in Houston, Texas.
“I liked the idea of being able to apply my degrees to the English teaching assistantship and being able to choose a Spanish-speaking country to live in,” Carissa said. "And I chose Panama because it allows me the opportunity to complete an extra project while I'm there. I have proposed an after-school program for students with and without disabilities to come and play sports together, which I am very excited about."
