Job Description / Summary

  • Opening for a Full-Time Speech Pathologist: Responsible for the evaluation and treatment of students with language-based learning disabilities. Develop and implement appropriate speech-language treatment plans, including goals and objectives that meet the needs of each individual.
  • Job requirements include consistently acting in a kind and respectful manner that positively impacts the communicative, academic, social and emotional success of every person that you are working with.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive speech-language evaluations and meet with families to review results and recommendations
  • Develop and implement speech-language pathology treatment plans that meet the specific needs of each individual
  • Provide multi-modal instruction whenever possible taking into consideration individual strengths and weaknesses to allow every person the opportunity to reach their full potential
  • Evaluate progress of students under your care and communicate this to parents and caregivers through phone calls, notes, parent-teacher conferences, and progress reports on a timely basis
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary team including teachers, counselors, school administrators, medical providers, etc.
  • Collaborate with Groves Diagnostics Team by reviewing and interpreting psychoeducational and speech-language assessment results to inform plans of care 
  • Continue to develop professional knowledge of speech-language pathology, learning disabilities, ADHD and other areas of diagnoses relative to clients who exhibit communication disorders through attendance at conferences, workshops, in-service meetings, and reading professional journals

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Communication Sciences & Disorders
  • CCC - Certificate of Clinical Competence (not applicable to clinical fellowship)
  • Current Minnesota Speech-Language Pathology License (Dept of Education and/or Dept of Health)

  • Speech Language Pathologist I: Evaluates, plans, treats and implements care for patients in the areas of speech, language, cognition and swallowing accordance with professional standards of the American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) using any established Clinical Practice Guidelines.
  • Key Responsibilities:
    • This position is assigned to both Northern Pines Hospital and Virginia Medical Center
    • The SLP will flex time between each location based on patient need but generally 3 days per week in Aurora and 2 days per week in Virginia
    • Treat patients of all age ranges with a variety of diagnose
    • Join a trusted rehab team that includes PTs, PTAs, and an OT
    • Provides therapy evaluation, treatment planning, treatment, patient/caregiver education, and discharge planning for a full caseload of patients
    • Provides all ancillary/administrative requirements for a full caseload of patients, including documentation, billing, scheduling management, and other administrative duties
    • Work within a variety of settings, including inpatient, outpatient,  and nursing home
    • Demonstrates appropriate communication, professionalism and supervision of support staff (licensed assistants, aides, volunteers) and complies with all organization policies
    • Complies with organization code of conduct
    • Meets professional organization core values, code of ethics, &/or scope of practice
    • Work where the patient need is highest (including flexing to other departments) when home department schedule allows
    • Provide staff education, participate/lead committee groups, participate in staff onboarding/orientation
