English Student Orgs
Involved students = successful students
Learning is an inherently social activity—and English majors and minors are definitely a social group! As a result, student organizations are a big part of our English department and a big part of a well-rounded and complete education. There are four vibrant, active groups hosted in our department, providing students with an opportunity to socialize with and learn from others with similar interests as well as gain professional and disciplinary experience. Check them out!
English Ambassadors
English Ambassadors is an organization that mentors current and potential students of English Studies in the academic, social, and professional opportunities available to them. More specifically, English Ambassadors actively participate on the English Curriculum Committee, mentor incoming (and newly declared) students of English, and assist with recruitment activities for prospective students. English Ambassadors are the face of the English Department!
English Festival
This student group plays an essential department role in organizing events for English majors, minors, faculty, and the community, including featured authors readings, alumni panels, scholarly presentations, on the UWEC campus.

NOTA
For 43 years, the campus literary magazine None of the Above, NOTA, is an entirely student run operation that publishes a biannual collection of the top student submissions in the categories of art, poetry, and prose. According to their mission, NOTA will “showcase the creative works of University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire students with multiple publications throughout the academic year and open mic readings at The Cabin, as well as through other events as proposed by NOTA staff.”

Sigma Tau Delta
Sigma Tau Delta is an international English honor society committed to fostering relationships between students and faculty and inspiring students to promote their love of literature and words to the greater campus and local community through service projects and activities. Theta Zeta, Eau Claire's Chapter of Sigma Tau Delta was founded in January, 1956. In addition to the goals of the international society, the Theta Zeta chapter seeks to promote the love of literature and the English language on a local level, to give back to the local and international community, and to have fun with those who share our interest in English language and literature.
Get Involved
Our students say getting involved is the most important thing you can do as a new student. Some of your best resumé material could come from being in a club or service group and so might some of your best friends. Jump in and try something new.
